Forbes Rates Omaha 8th

Forbes Magazine has ranked Omaha 8th of the 100 best cities to work in. Low unemployment and low cost of living are two factors cited. Salt Lake City, Austin and Wichita lead the list. Indianapolis and Houston are rated just above Omaha at 6th and 7th.

Women Out-Earning Men

"The trend of women reaching a higher level of college education is impacting median wages in larger cities. Women between the ages of 20 - 30 are out-earning men in the same age group. "In New York, women earn 117% and in Dallas 120% of their male counterparts' wages.

Nationally, women in this age group only make 89% of the wages of their male counterparts."

An employee of 20+ years who had skillfully handled a myriad of important support functions- document reproduction, mail services and more- had retired from the company. Then, the good candidate who replaced her had difficulty in fulfilling the requirements of the position and left the firm. So Jim and the team needed a quick substitute. Covey Extolls Speed of Trust

Stephen S. Covey, co-founder and CEO of CoveyLink Worldwide, praised the speed of trust at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting Luncheon on February 12 at the Qwest Center. Hundreds of professionals heard Covey describe the soft intangible of trust as a "hard-edged economic driver in today's marketplace."

According to Covey, "Trust = Low Cost and Less Time" to complete a business transaction.

Covey cited the example of Warren Buffett agreeing to purchase a multi-million dollar company with just a handshake. The trust factor was so great, Buffett did not even examine the company's financials.
